Design, Commission & Inspect Fire Alarm Systems & Emergency Lighting Programme (PTA-FA-3 & PTA-EM-1)

Fire alarms and emergency lighting play an integral role in enhancing our safety and fire safety precautions are a legal requirement. Candidates will cover the aspects of how to design, install, test and inspect fire alarm and emergency lighting technologies, gaining the vital knowledge that will help to ensure your work complies with the relevant British Standards BS 5838 Parts 1 & 6 and BS 5266. Although there are no formal prerequisites, it is expected that you will have some previous installation experience and a basic knowledge of similar systems.

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 Programme (PTA-EAWR-001)

This training programme is designed for everyone who works in the Electrical industry, from duty holders, managers, team leaders, those within a maintenance team, self-employed, machine operatives who may be required to undertake limited maintenance, in fact anyone who has to work on electrical systems and needs to be aware of the Regulations contained within the statutory document. Candidates will need to be working in and have experience in the electrical industry.

Competence in the Installation and Testing of Electro-technical Systems Programme PTA-7232-(5) - Guided Learning

The programme is training centre based and covers the installation, inspection, testing, verification and certification of installations to BS 7671:2018. It will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your broad range of electrical knowledge and practical skills, keeping you up to date with all the latest industry requirements and ultimately, deliver the highest safety standards for your customers. It is appropriate for those wishing to work in either a domestic or commercial / industrial environment. To undertake this programme two years of appropriate electrical experience is required. This will need to be verified on induction to the programme.

Successful candidates can apply to NAPIT for membership onto the Competent Persons Scheme (Please note other criteria apply).

This programme is designed to instruct Duty holders of their responsibilities under the statutory Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. Candidates are to be working within and have experience of the electrical industry.

Safe Isolation of Single Phase Circuits Programme (PTA-SI-001) This needs placing above the multiphase

This programme is for any person who works on single phase installations and equipment, from electricians, electrical contractors, test supervisors, technicians, managers, tradespeople and / or appliance retailers /repairers etc.), who have the responsibility of isolation of fuse boards, single circuits and isolation of apparatus connected to fuse connection units. Candidates are required to have experience within the electrical industry.

Safe Isolation of Multiphase Circuits Programme (PTA-SI-002)

This Programme is for electricians, electrical contractors, test supervisors, technicians, managers, tradespeople who during their work duties have the responsibility to isolate three phase distribution boards, electric motors and supplies. Candidates are required to have completed the single phase 1 day Programme before undertaking the 3 phase safe isolation. This Programme has been designed for candidates who will be working in the vicinity of or on electrical equipment or systems which should be isolated prior to commencement of work.

Lightning & Surge Protection Programme (PTA-62305-3&4)

This programme is covered over 2 days and includes a presentation. There will be an end point assessment in the form of a multiple choice assessment and Practical Assessment Work Scenario (PAWS). Candidates who hold a copy of BS 7671 are encouraged to bring this with them as this document will be referenced, however if you do not have this document you will be shown where the information is in this document.
