Who is this Course For?

Practicing electricians with existing theory qualifications who wish to become Approved Electricians.

This Course Covers (over 6-12 months)

Premier Training will support you through the process of confirming your practical abilities by building a portfolio. This can be done at your own rate as suitable types of jobs arise.

Unit 102 Apply Health, Safety and Environmental Considerations

Unit 106 Organise and Oversee the Electrical Work Environment

Unit 108 Terminate and Connect Conductors

Unit 109 Apply Design and Installation Practices and Procedures

Unit 113 Inspect, Test and Commission Electrical Systems

Unit 115 Apply Fault Diagnosis and Rectification

Please Note: The time required to complete your portfolio depends on the time you have available to work on it; six months would be a practical minimum, twelve to twenty-four months more typical.

Course Structure

This course is designed to confirm that practicing electricians can meet the required standard to be graded as approved. This is accomplished by:

  • On-site assessments by Premier Training staff to confirm that City and Guilds assessment criteria have been met

  • Adding evidence such as written logs and supplementary evidence which will be defined by your assessor to the OneFile E-portfolio

Course Materials

When you attend the initial briefing, you will need to bring the following:

  • Copies of your level 3 technical certificate in electrical installation

  • 1 passport photo

Course Requirements

  • A level 3 technical certificate in electrical installation work such as CG2330-07 or CG2365-02 

On Completion of the Course

Successful applicants will hold the CG5357-03 Diploma with which they can apply for a JIB Gold approved electrician’s card. To gain this status the candidate must achieve the AM2 synoptic competence based assessment at a dedicated AM2 test centre. Please note this is not included as a part of this qualification.
