Domestic Electrical Installers Course (LG-DEI-5)

Who is this Course For?

This course has been designed to provide electrical knowledge and practical skills for candidates to enable them to carry out domestic electrical installation work.

Why Take this Course?

This course, as well as the C&G 2382 17th Edition Wiring Regulations, and demonstrable evidence of 2 years’ experience, can be used to register with NAPIT for the dwellings only scheme (A1.1).

This Course Covers (over 5 days)

The Domestic Electrical Installer (DEI) Training and Assessment package covers electrical work as outlined in the Part P Building Regulation (April 2013) and BS 7671:2008 (2015) 17th Edition Wiring Regulations.

Course Structure

There will be both theory and practical elements to this course.

A variety of methods will be used to assess candidates including multiple choice, short written response and scenario questions and observed practical tasks.

Throughout this course you will be trained and assessed in the following areas:

  • Component exchange
  • Applicable building regulations
  • Electrical safety legislation regulations, standards and terminology
  • Pre-work survey / inspections
  • Safe isolation procedures
  • Identification of unsafe electrical situations
  • Earthing and bonding requirements
  • Electrical test procedures
  • Cable components and fitting selection
  • Installation and replacement of electrical components and fittings
  • Checking the correct and safe operation of installed electrical components
  • Recording of electrical test results, completion of certification and notification requirements
  • Installing and or re-routing cables to form suitable outlet connections
  • Special locations
  • High protective conductors
  • Domestic lighting circuits, SELV
  • Maintaining domestic electrical installations
  • 3 Phase supplies

Course Materials

Candidates do not need to bring any materials with them for this course.

Course Requirements

Candidates must have some electrical knowledge and experience to be eligible to attend this course.

If you are new to the industry, with little or no electrical experience, you must attend a beginner’s electrical course first.

On Completion of the Course

On completion of the course, you will be awarded the; Logic Domestic Electrical Installer (Part P 2013) - Full Scope certificate, which is valid for 5 years.
